Syracuse won their 37th straight home game with a 77-58 bashing of St. John’s on Sunday afternoon. Michael Carter-Williams scored 17 points with eight assists, and James Southerland added 13 in his return to action. D’Angelo Harrison scored 13 points for St. John’s.
SU posted their 37th consecutive home win and their eighth straight overall win over the Red Storm (15-9, 7-5), as they got four players into double digits in scoring, including Southerland.
The Orange got good news on Sunday morning, as James Southerland won his academic appeal. He will be available today to play against St. John’s after a six-game absence over a dispute around a term paper he wrote last year.
Syracuse will add a third quarterback to its 2013 recruiting class in the next few days, as Akeem Jones has selected the Orange over Louisiana-Lafayette.
If Syracuse wants to finish the season strong, they would be wise to continue feeding Christmas in the low post and finding Grant at the top of the key. They can’t score, after all, if they don’t get the ball.
There are 19 players in the class, including four offensive linemen, three defensive linemen, three linebackers, three wide receivers, two quarterbacks, two tight ends and two defensive backs.
