Orange Watch: Former Syracuse star Marvin Harrison won’t wait long for Hall of Fame
It was an initial mild surprise to Orange Watch when the seven members (five modern-day players plus two senior nominees) of the newest class of Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees were unveiled this past weekend in New York, and Marvin Harrison, in his first year of eligibility, was not among the names that were announced.

It was another one of Jim Boeheim’s longtime coaching comrades that made news late Saturday night, a couple of hours after the SU boss had hugged his close friend Mike Krzyzewski following a masterpiece of a college basketball game in the Dome between the fourth (Duke) and fifth (SU) all time victorious programs and newly crowned certified ACC rivals, who get to go it again in Durham on Feb. 22.

Unless there is some sort of change to the protocol of the ACC Football composite schedule for 2015 and forward, we certainly hope the conference does not make both the Pittsburgh and Boston College matchups the annual final two regular season games, alternating odds years in the Dome and even years away.

So much for all that talk dating back as far as last summer’s official July 1 entrance date for Syracuse and Pittsburgh into the ACC, followed by all the gushing at the basketball media day activities in October proclaiming the ACC, with five schools sporting national championships and with three of the top five all-time victorious programs, having the potential to be the best basketball conference in all the land.

Other than the fresh five ACC games in the inaugural season for the 2014 Syracuse lacrosse team, in what will likely end up being an amazingly close and competitive margin from teams one through six, and besides the annual matchup with fellow modern era NCAA blueblood Johns Hopkins (the teams have met every season since 1985), the remaining seven games on the recently released 2014 lax schedule are against teams from New York State, six of which are within a 145 miles radius of the Carrier Dome.

With the Syracuse coach now settling into his eight man rotation which loses two scholarship players and perhaps one to two others after the season, there’s the three talented freshmen who’s minutes have come almost exclusively in non-spotlighted games so far, and a fourth, big man Chinonso Obokoh, who’s likely to officially redshirt this season.
