Syracuse basketball among most consistent teams in NCAA

December 30, 2013 Rachel Marcus

There appears to be a regular pattern now. Every time Syracuse basketball loses a significant portion of its team, it somehow manages to get better the next season. Lose a couple NBA draft picks? No worries, the Orange will just have other players step up.

Syracuse Orange survive slow start to beat Villanova Wildcats

December 28, 2013 Jim Stechschulte

For the first nine minutes of their steepest test of the young season, #2 Syracuse looked like they were going to fail spectacularly. The Orange, rather, passed with flying colors by rocketing back from an early 18-point deficit and pulling away late for a 78-62 win over #8 Villanova at the Carrier Dome.

In front of victorious Texas Bowl coach Scott Shafer who sat courtside with his wife Missy and AD Daryl Gross, Syracuse (12-0) played like it had just come off an eight day layoff over the game’s initial 10 minutes, at one point trailing the hot shooting Wildcats 25-7.

Syracuse Orange defeat Minnesota Golden Gophers to capture Texas Bowl

December 27, 2013 Jim Stechschulte

Seeing how Syracuse did not secure bowl eligibility until there were six seconds left in their schedule, it makes perfect sense that they did not secure a bowl victory until no time remained on the clock.
