Orange Watch
Orange Watch: Syracuse basketball will never lose to Indiana again
Of course we know nothing compares to losing a NCAA Championship game, but there’s something we find uniquely poetic about the fact that since the Orange lost late to Bob Knight and his ’87 Indiana team in New Orleans, Jim Boeheim has not only gone 5-0 against the storied Hoosiers in the subsequent meetings, but three of the five were one-sided Orange domination.
Orange Watch: It was Boeheim vs. Pitino again, but this time with a twist for Syracuse
Like his father (a 22-point Providence loss in the Dome in ’86), Richard Pitino suffered the same result in his first meeting against Boeheim Monday in Hawaii, with C.J. Fair stepping up (16 points, 10 rebounds) following a vicious first half slam dunk that resulted in a deep, bloody cut on his cheekbone.
Orange Watch: Dissecting “Shafe” Part 2: “Welcome to the ACC”
The not-so-funny aspect about Shafer’s initial reaction to Clemson’s strategy is that Swinney was well within his rights to try and take a 42-7 lead into the locker room even with 30 minutes left to play. Stranger occurrences have happened in college football comebacks and if nothing else, the sooner an insurmountable lead was intact with less game clock, the sooner Swinney could start liberally substituting in his second-stringers as he eyes bigger games down the road.
