After a slow start in the game’s opening minutes, #4 Syracuse blitzed Binghamton, ripping off 18 straight points to turn the game on its head and trigger a 93-65 victory at the Carrier Dome. The Orange (9-0) also tacked on three additional runs of at least seven points and led by as many as 37 points late in the game.
Syracuse’s 34-31 win over Boston College that secured bowl eligibility for the Orange. From the moment SU (6-6, 4-4 ACC) took the lead on a field goal late in the third quarter, they ran through the gamut of emotions, lastly going from the lowest of lows following a crippling interception with under three minutes to play to the highest of highs when Josh Parris waltzed into the end zone on the receiving end of a slick weak side screen pass to put Syracuse on top with six seconds remaining.
For the second straight night, #8 Syracuse used a second half run to create a large enough cushion to hold on for a victory, this time knocking off #18 Baylor to win the EA Sports Maui Invitational championship game by a 74-67 score. The Orange (7-0) posted ten straight points to stretch a four-point lead to fourteen with just over five minutes on the clock and never let the gap shrink to less than six until the game’s waning seconds.
Monday night, #8 Syracuse started their stay in Hawaii with a hard-fought 75-67 win over Minnesota in the EA Sports Maui Invitational. The Orange (5-0) used a big run to grab a 14-point lead early in the second half, then relied on their defense to hold off the Golden Gophers (5-1), including holding them without a field goal for over five minutes late in the game.
Saturday evening, #9 Syracuse did something they had done many times before against Colgate. When struggling with their marksmanship in almost all facets, the Orange (3-0) relied on their superior athleticism to ease by the Raiders (0-2), 69-50, to claim their 48th consecutive win the series between the two schools.
