Saturday turned out to be as unsuccessful a business trip as many expected for Syracuse, as they were flattened by #2 Florida State in Tallahassee, 59-3. The Orange (5-5, 3-3 ACC) were no match for the hosts, as the Seminoles (10-0, 8-0) completely dominated every facet of the game, simply due to their overabundance of athleticism.

For the second straight week, the Syracuse defense was simply dominant, shutting down Maryland in a 20-3 road win. The unit forced four turnovers for the Orange, propelling them to within one win of bowl eligibility at 5-4 overall and above .500 in the ACC at 3-2. The SU defense held the hosts to 5.3 yards per play, including a meager 2.3 yards per rushing attempt.

Tyler Ennis played a very quiet first half, taking only one shot. Jim Boeheim told Ennis at halftime he had to be more aggressive. Ennis did exactly that, and finished with 7 points, 5 assists and 4 steals, while sparking an 18-0 second half run that put the game out of reach.

One drive, one turnover, one trick play. Those three things were all Syracuse needed as they pitched a 13-0 shutout on Saturday over Wake Forest at the Carrier Dome. The win not only evened out the Orange record at 4-4 overall and 2-2 in the ACC, bit it also nudged them within two games of bowl eligibility with four games left on their schedule.
