After 12 minutes of even play, #8 Syracuse blew out Providence over the remaining eight minutes of the first half en route to an 84-59 victory at the Carrier Dome.

The game could have been the classic trap game. Syracuse was, after all, playing a lesser Big East team just days before Georgetown comes to the Carrier Dome before a record crowd.

Syracuse went on a 27-2 run in the final 7:48 of the first half as the Orange took a 43-16 lead into halftime.

Wednesday night, #7 Syracuse rallied in the second half to survive Bryce Cotton’s game-high 24 points, knocking off Providence for their second straight Big East road win, 72-66.

Syracuse went on a 10-2 run and put the game out of reach after CJ Fair hit a pair of free throws to make it 64-55 with 1:21 left.
