Syracuse received a commitment from JUCO transfer Lonnie Rice on Monday afternoon.
Rice was on the Syracuse campus for an official visit over the weekend, selecting the Orange over offers from FIU, Charlotte, Georgia State, Morgan State and Kent State, among others.

“It was amazing!” Rice said about the visit in an interview with The Juice Online.
The Lackawanna (PA) CC linebacker/EDGE entered the portal in November and picked up an offer from the Orange shortly after.
“I was pumped up,” Rice previously said about the offer. “It’s been a long time coming I’ve been in contact with Syracuse since I was 16 so I was honestly shocked.”

He has three years of eligibility remaining after playing at both Buffalo and Lackawanna.
It was Syracuse’s fourth commitment from official visits from the past weekend, with 2023 defensive linemen Ty Gordon and Oluwademilade Omopariola pledging to the Orange, along with JUCO offensive lineman J’Onre Reed.
