As we approach the early signing period on Wednesday, we’ve got plenty of news from the Syracuse football recruiting world for you on the last Monday before the holiday break.

Syracuse picked up six commitments in the past week, and we start with 2023 defensive lineman Ty Gordon, who pledged to SU on Saturday following his official visit. He flipped his commitment from Old Dominion, and told The Juice Online’s Wes Cheng that he sees Syracuse as a team that is “young and hungry.”

Speaking of the defensive line, the Orange picked up commitments from Alabama graduate transfer Braylen Ingraham and 2023 Gwynn Oak (MD) Woodlawn star Oluwademilade Omopariola. Omopariola had offers from Morgan State, Temple and Georgetown, among others, and he spoke with Cheng. “The environment and people are very welcoming,” Omopariola said. “They have a family-like bond.”

On the other side of the trenches, Syracuse received a commitment from JUCO offensive lineman J’onre Reed from Hutchinson (KS) CC. Reed had offers from Oregon, New Mexico, Coastal Carolina, UAB and UNLV, among other schools. “(Syracuse has an) amazing fan base, amazing coaches,” Reed said to Cheng. “I’m very family oriented, and coach (Dino) Babers is building a family, ‘Ohana.”

The Orange also bolstered its secondary by adding a pair of former New Jersey high school teammates. On Tuesday, Nebraska’s Jaeden Gould announced he was transferring to Syracuse with four years of eligibility remaining. A few days later, Notre Dame transfer Jayden Bellamy committed to Syracuse as well. Both starred at Bergen (NJ) Catholic.

Another player in the portal Syracuse is pursuing is Missouri transfer punter Jack Stonehouse. The redshirt freshman punted 47 times for a 42.3 yard average and has three years of eligibility remaining.

As it gets late in the cycle, Syracuse is also trying to flip several other high school players. We start with Trevion Mack, a 2023 offensive lineman from Irondale (MN) High. 247 Sports rates him a three-star prospect, and he has been committed to Northern Illinois since August.

Syracuse is also pursuing 2023 defensive back Evan Spivey from Germantown (PA) Academy. The three-star prospect, according to On3Sports, has been committed to Coastal Carolina since July and also holds offers from Akron, Bowling Green, Ken State, Rhode Island and Temple.

Moving away from 2023 and portal transfers, the Orange is looking ahead to future classes. Syracuse offered 2025 defensive lineman Cortez Harris from Dematha (MD) Catholic. He has offers from Akron, Maryland and Virginia Tech so far. Cheng also caught up with Harris, who said he was appreciative and that Syracuse ‘is a great school.’
