Long-time Post-Standard columnist Bud Poliquin puts together 68 of some of the greatest Orange basketball stories ever told in his updated Tales from the Syracuse Orange’s Locker Room. The book was originally published in 2003 following SU’s first (and only) NCAA national championship, but, obviously, plenty has happened since then.
Syracuse finishes 2013 with win over Eastern Michigan
With DaJuan Coleman shelved with a minor knee injury, Jerami Grant was promoted to the staring lineup for the first time at Syracuse. The sophomore forward responded well, scoring nine of the first 11 points of the day and 11 in the first 6:30 of the game for the Orange (13-0), who cruised past Eastern Michigan at the Carrier Dome, 70-48.
Syracuse Orange survive slow start to beat Villanova Wildcats
For the first nine minutes of their steepest test of the young season, #2 Syracuse looked like they were going to fail spectacularly. The Orange, rather, passed with flying colors by rocketing back from an early 18-point deficit and pulling away late for a 78-62 win over #8 Villanova at the Carrier Dome.
