James Southerland got his first start of the season in his final game at the Carrier Dome and made it pay off, posting the first double-double of his career in leading #17 Syracuse to a 78-57 victory over DePaul.

Syracuse ended its three game losing streak with a win over DePaul on Wednesday.

Cleveland Melvin is second on the team in scoring at 16.5 ppg, and became just the 13th player in DePaul history to score more than 1,400 career points.

After a shaky couple minutes to open the game, #1 Syracuse roared to life, blasting DePaul on the road, 87-68.

Syracuse had an easy time against DePaul last night. It wasn’t quite the 107-59 beat down from last year but it also wasn’t the 59-57 nail biter from the year before that. It was a solid win as the Orange improve to 15-0 and will remain No. 1 in the polls
