It continues to be a busy summer in the Syracuse recruiting world as we approach the end of July.
Syracuse football picked up two commitments last week in their 2023 cycle. On Tuesday, offensive lineman Jayden Bass from Springfield (MA) Central announced his commitment to SU. Bass holds a three-star ranking from 247 Sports, and chose the Orange over offers from Buffalo, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Marshall and Temple, among others.
On Friday, the Orange received a commitment from 2023 RB Ike Daniels. Daniels holds a three-star ranking from 247 Sports, and had an impressive list of Power 5 offers that included Arizona State, Michigan State, Penn State, Pitt, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Wake Forest and West Virginia.
Syracuse now has nine commitments in the 2023 cycle, and has now turned its attention toward later recruiting cycles. The coaching staff was active in New Jersey in the past week, handing out several offers in the class of 2024 and 2025.
We start at West (NJ) Orange High. The Orange extended an offer to 2024 linebacker Zekai Wimberly. It is his second offer after Ole’ Miss offered him back in April.
Staying in Northern New Jersey, SU also offered 2024 defensive lineman Nyreek Clyburn from Eastside (NJ) High. He also holds offers from Rutgers and Ole Miss.
The Syracuse coaching staff then moved over to Immaculate (NJ) Conception in Central New Jersey, and offered three of their players:

- 2024 wide receiver David Thom-Rogers.
- 2024 defensive back Jasin Shiggs. Shiggs unofficially visited Syracuse in April.
- 2025 wide receiver/defensive back Jordan Jenkins. He also previously visited Syracuse unofficially in April.
It was the first offer for all three athletes.
In the basketball world, Nike hosted its EYBL Peach Jam, and the Syracuse coaching staff was there to watch. Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim and assistants Red Autry and Gerry McNamara were on hand to watch 2023 guard Reid Ducharme. The 6-4 wing is rated four stars by 247 Sports, and holds offers from Penn State, Syracuse, Xavier, DePaul, Iowa and Miami, among others.
And to close on the week, the Orange will host 2023 big man JP Estrella from Aug. 4-6, according to Mike McAllister from Sports Illustrated. Duke, Kansas and UConn are among the schools pursuing the Brewster (NH) Academy four-star prospect, who is ranked 56th in his class according to 247 Sports. He has visits to Iowa and Duke planned for later in July.
