A Happy Memorial Day to all of our readers as we run down the latest recruiting news from the past week.

Syracuse football hosted four prospects from Canisius (NY) High in Buffalo this week. Starting in the class of 2024, Syracuse hosted running back Dyrell Howard-Dolson on Wednesday. The Canisius (NY) High running back has taken visits to West Virginia, Buffalo and Rutgers, and said he “really enjoyed” his time at Syracuse. He also caught up with Sports Illustrated’s Mike McAllister to recap the visit, and said it was the most fun he had on a visit “in a while.”

He visited with his high school teammates, 2025 wide receiver Jahyden Clark, and 2025 quarterback Gavin Schwab, and 2026 defensive back Demari Clemons. Clark had “huge appreciation” to the coaching staff for hosting him, Schwab referred to it as “great” and Clemons said he had an “amazing visit.”

The Orange will have other visitors on campus soon. 2023 offensive lineman Jaylin Johnson from Dunnellon (Fla.) High received his first collegiate offer from Syracuse in May, and earlier this week, tweeted that he’s looking forward to getting on campus. Johnson, a 6-4, 265 pound prospect, has also drawn interest from Middle Tennessee State and Florida Atlantic, and is currently unranked by 247.

Another 2023 prospect that is planning a visit is three-star offensive lineman Deandre Duffus from Chaminade-Madonna (Fla.) Prep. He holds a variety of offers, including from Georgia Tech, Michigan State, Ole Mission, Oregon and Penn State. Syracuse offered him in April, and according to 247 Sports’ Andrew Ivins, he will be taking official visits to Syracuse (June 17), Indiana and UCF.

Here are some offers that Syracuse extended in the past week:

  • 2023 JUCO defensive back Myles Norwood from Iowa Western. He also holds offers from Indiana, Iowa State and Kansas.
  • 2023 offensive lineman Johnny Williams IV from Northeast (GA) High. He’s rated three stars by 247 Sports and holds offers from Arizona State, Duke, Georgia, Miami, Oregon and West Virginia, among others.
  • 2024 running back D’Shawntae Jones from Glenville (OH) High. Aside from his Syracuse offer, also holds one other from Marshall, and has received interest from Penn State and Michigan.

To finish things off, we have one recruiting note from the basketball world. McAllister also reports that Syracuse will be getting an official visit from 2023 shooting guard Reid Ducharme from Brewster (NH) Academy on the weekend of June 14-16. Syracuse assistant coach Gerry McNamara is the lead recruiter for the four-star prospect, who is ranked 92nd in his class according to the 247 Sports Composite. His offer list includes Iowa, Penn State, Providence and DePaul.
