Plenty of the news from the increasingly fickle world of recruiting this week.

Kamari Lands

The big shock over the weekend was the decommitment of four-star wing Kamari Lands from the Orange. Ranked 35th in the class of 2022 by 247 Sports, Lands had committed to SU back in April. Lands stated his reasoning for leaving was the “opportunity to be recruited with NIL,” he said in an interview with Syracuse.com’s Mike Waters.

That leaves Syracuse with two commitments in its 2022 class: Justin Taylor and Quadir Copeland, who will be teaming up with each other at IMG Academy.

Spencer Mahoney

Syracuse took a look toward its 2023 class this week, offering Bronx native Spencer Mahoney. It was Mahoney’s first high-major offer, followed a day later by another high-major offer from Texas A&M.

Mahoney, a 6-foot-8 shooting guard, also holds offers from Siena, Harvard and Robert Morris. He broke down his Orange offer with Sports Illustrated’s Mike McAllister, saying he was “very excited” about it.

Dom Foster

Over in football, Syracuse received a commitment from Dom Foster, a 6-foot-2, 175-pound Athlete out of Warren OH. The 3-star recruit had unofficially visited both Syracuse and Boston College, and he also had offers from ACC foes Virginia and Wake Forest.

The football team now has 11 commitments for the 2022 class, and he is the fourth defensive back in the group joining Jeremiah Wilson, Cornell Perry and Quan Peterson.

Alex Williams

One name to keep in mind in the 2022 class is Alex Williams. He’s a three-star linebacker from Wewahitchka (Fla.), and decommitted from Vanderbilt last week. He held an offer from Ole Miss prior to to leaving the Commodores, and picked up one from Florida A&M a few days after.

Williams is ranked 903rd in the class and 86th at his position. Tony White and Kramer Cook are currently tracking his progress on Twitter.

Lee Kpogba

In outgoing news, former Syracuse linebacker Lee Kpogba is now playing at Mississippi JUCO East Mississippi Community College. Kpogba had spent two years as a reserve linebacker with the Orange before he was suspended in February for undisclosed reasons. In the 2020 season, Kpogba finished with 43 tackles, two TFL and one sack.
