One drive, one turnover, one trick play. Those three things were all Syracuse needed as they pitched a 13-0 shutout on Saturday over Wake Forest at the Carrier Dome. The win not only evened out the Orange record at 4-4 overall and 2-2 in the ACC, bit it also nudged them within two games of bowl eligibility with four games left on their schedule.

Syracuse shook off a woeful offensive first half to hang two scores on Wake Forest in the third quarter. The Orange broke a 0-0 tie after a physical 14-play, 75-yard drive culminated in a Terrel Hunt scramble into the endzone for the game’s first score.

Syracuse and Wake Forest are each on the border of qualifying for a bowl game. Currently, Syracuse is 3-4, and outside of the game against the Deacons, they play Florida State, Boston College, Maryland and Pitt.
