Think the latest move by Maryland to ditch the ACC for the Big Ten and Rutgers bolting the Big East to join the Terrapins is the last of it? Won’t fool me twice.
As a Syracuse fan, who isn’t at least a little worried that, just when SU thought it had a seat in the musical chairs game of conference realignment, that the music might stop, and the Orange don’t have a conference to call home?
With the news of the defections of Maryland (and also likely Rutgers) to the Big 10 conference, the ACC has some options to replace the Terps should they decide to expand again.
Sources told ESPN that the Big Ten is looking to add Maryland, and Rutgers would follow, and that an announcement could come as soon as early next week.
This is why this year’s coaching changes are fairly confusing. It’s not as much some schools aren’t what we thought they were so much as these schools aren’t what they think they are – and they have made moves accordingly that boggle the mind.
