Lemon was one of three SU receivers—tight end David Stevens and wide receiver Dorian Graham were the other two—who dropped touchdown catches. Instead of walking away with 21 points on those three passes, the Orange could only muster a field goal.
With 8:28 left in the second quarter of Syracuse’s 49-23 upset of No. 11 West Virginia, Graham took a kickoff at SU’s 2 yard line and sprinted upfield. A hole opened up on the left side and suddenly, Graham was thinking six points.
The senior receiver set career highs across the board, as he caught four passes for 55 yards and two touchdowns. He also added two rushes for 22 yards for good measure, as Syracuse outlasted Tulane 37-34.
Three separate Orange receivers—Dorian Graham, Brad Stevens and Alec Lemon—each had a dropped pass in the endzone. Instead of Syracuse putting 21 points on the board, SU came away with only a field goal.
