Lemon was one of three SU receivers—tight end David Stevens and wide receiver Dorian Graham were the other two—who dropped touchdown catches. Instead of walking away with 21 points on those three passes, the Orange could only muster a field goal.
One week after setting a career high in receiving yards, Lemon did it again in Syracuse’s 37-17 loss to South Florida. The junior finished with 10 catches for 179 yards and two touchdowns and was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise forgettable game for SU.
Three separate Orange receivers—Dorian Graham, Brad Stevens and Alec Lemon—each had a dropped pass in the endzone. Instead of Syracuse putting 21 points on the board, SU came away with only a field goal.
The Orange return eight starters from a unit that was prolific at times, and down right anemic at others. SU’s offense averaged 37.5 points in its opening four games, but during its final three games of the regular season, the Orange could muster only a woeful 8.6 points.
