Syracuse-UConn Postgame Thoughts
I like Jeff Nixon as offensive coordinator. That said, I don't understand yesterday's game plan. Yasin Willis had 21 carries against Tennessee, then Fran Brown said he was their best player and wanted to give him the ball more. He got 11 carries yesterday. Also, Johntay Cook had 6 catches on 10 targets against Tennessee. Yesterday, 4 catches on 4 targets. First target four minutes into the second quarter, next one didn't come until under two minutes were left. These are curious decisions.
When Connecticut went to soft zone in the second half of the fourth quarter, Angeli finally got going.
First 53 minutes - 21-for-38, 251 yards, INT; Rest of the game - 12-for-15, 166 yards, 2TD
Against Tennessee, after the Vols went up, 38-14, Angeli was 12-for-19 for 158 yards. Before that, 11-for-21 for 116 yards with a TD and an INT.
Something to keep an eye on, but I am not sold.
