Syracuse has its first exhibition of the 2022-23 season on Tuesday, so we figured it would be a good time to do a basketball-focused recruiting roundup.

We start in the 2024 class with big man Thomas Sorber from Archibishop Ryan (PA). He is rated four stars and the 64th prospect in his class by 247 Sports. Sorber has taken three unofficial visits so far, and one of them was to Syracuse. He broke down those visits with 247’s Dushawn London, and had this to say about the Orange: “They have a great program. I like all the coaches and the head coach was telling me how they like to run stuff through their bigs.”

London also caught up with 2023 big man William Patterson from Bishop Walsh (MD) School. His finalists include Oklahoma State, Syracuse and TCU, and he expects to make a decision in November. “I like how their bigs are aggressive, know how to move the ball, and have very good IQ,” he says in the article.

One 2023 big man that Syracuse had once offered is now off the board. Four-star center Papa Kante committed to Michigan last week. On3 ranks him as the No. 32nd overall prospect in his class, and he held offers from Georgetown, Illinois, Kansas, Miami, Pitt and Syracuse, among others.

Moving over to football, we start in the class of 2023, where Syracuse extended an offer to Nolensville (TN) High WR Chance Fitzgerald. The three star wide receiver is ranked 501st in his class according to 247 Sports, and also holds offers from Auburn, Minnesota, Louisville, Georgia Tech and Kentucky, among others.

The Orange also extended an offer to J’onre Reed from Hutchinson (KS) Community College. The JUCO offensive lineman holds offers from Eastern Kentucky, Missouri State and McNeese.

2023 Syracuse quarterback commit LaNorris Sellers is having quite the season for South Florence (SC) High. The No. 1 ranked AAAA team in South Carolina is led by Sellers, who has thrown for 1,894 yards and 26 touchdowns, and rushed for 778 yards and 12 touchdowns. Sellers committed to the Orange back in March, but has some in-state competition now, as South Carolina offered him over the weekend. He also recently picked up an in-state offer from Coastal Carolina.

West Orange (NJ) High defensive back Saboor Karriem was thought to be a Syracuse lean at one point, but the three-star prospect committed to Illinois over the weekend. His offers included Duke, Northwestern, Louisville, Boston College and Michigan State.
