Syracuse went with grey uniforms in upsetting Virginia Tech on Oct. 15.  Will they be worn again this season?

Item: Since Orange Watch is uniform obsessed, and since the Syracuse football team has worn a different uniform combination for all nine games played up to this point of the season, we are going to try and guess the uniform combination for the last games of the 2016 football season.

Alright, so we were off on the road uniforms for the Clemson game by the color blue, as in blue helmets and pants to go with the white jerseys, when we predicted orange helmets and pants to go with white jerseys. We will, however, keep our combo in mind for the Pittsburgh regular season finale on Nov. 26.

As for Saturday’s Dome matchup with North Carolina State (12:30 p.m. ET / ACC Network), after consulting the handy ACC Tracker courtesy of Uni Watch, and keeping in mind the ‘Cuse under Dino Babers has yet to wear the same uniform twice this season, we’ll go with a throwback- looking choice of white helmets, orange jerseys, and white pants.

It’s reminiscent of the Frank Maloney-era home uniform which he introduced from 1974-76 for a new look after the long (1949-1973) Ben Schwartzwalder tenure predominately featured the school’s renowned orange helmets.

Restoring the tradition of the orange helmet with a stripe or two down the middle, sans the “S” decal, as the uniform staple mixing and matching jerseys and pants is certainly an idea we would support moving forward, but is not likely in the weekly peacock-colored world today of college football uniforms at all NCAA divisions.
