Former Syracuse assistant coach and former Providence head coach Tim Welsh was on SNY.tv recently to break down Jim Boeheim’s recent statements following an NCAA report detailing SU’s infractions over a nearly 10 year period.
Things are not always pretty in competition. So, it was not a good look when Boeheim cited that the football program had three players involved with impermissible benefits at the YMCA while only one basketball player did the same
Boeheim reaffirmed his retirement timeline at three years, but also said he could retire at the end of next season if he felt he was no longer effective. When asked about his farewell, he laughed.
Here’s to hoping for a bounce back in 2016. I’d still rather be a Syracuse fan than any other team. SU consistently wins. I look forward to more of that tournament winning in the future.
You won’t have to listen to commentators who spend the entire season asking why Syracuse doesn’t switch to man-to-man defense rave about how stifling Boeheim’s 2-3 zone is.
