Thomas Holley is the top-rated high school football player in the state, and his Coney Island host — Isaiah Whitehead — is one of New York’s top basketball players. Both are using the final months of 2013 to pick a college. The two leaned on each other to win the PSAL city championship in basketball last season, and they have spent many nights at Whitehead’s home, discussing the recruiting process and trying to guess where the other might go. “He’s a tough cookie to crack,” the 6-4, 300-pound Holley says of Whitehead. “I’ve been trying to see where he’s going. He won’t tell me. But before (he announces), I’ll know. He’ll tell me.”
