Derrick Jones’ stock has continued to rise as the AAU season goes on, drawing attention from college coaches all around the country. About two weeks ago, Kentucky head coach John Calipari gave Jones a call, informing the We-R-1 star that the Wildcats have indeed given him a scholarship offer. “It’s truly an honor. I’m really excited that I’m getting this type of recognition from all of these college coaches,” Jones told me during an interview at the Reebok Classic Breakout. “Kentucky one the National Championship only about a year ago. They’re a big time program that produces a lot of NBA players. It’s just really exciting for my family and I. The hard work I’ve been putting in is really starting to pay off.”
