VILLANOVA, PA. – A quick take on Syracuse’s 11-10 Big East lacrosse defeat versus Villanova on a chilly early spring Saturday evening at Villanova Stadium in the heart of the Philadelphia’s suburban Main Line:
WHAT HAPPENED: Winning only two of 25 faceoffs, SU (6-2) watched the Wildcats (2-5) score twice in the final 2:51 of the fourth quarter to come from behind and upset the Orange for the second straight year by an 11-10 score.

WHAT IT MEANS:A six-game winning streak ends following the season-opening double overtime loss to Albany, and although he said afterwards he wasn’t displeased with his play, perhaps some questions for head coach John Desko on the status of junior goalie Dominic Lamolinara who was shaky on some Villanova goals throughout the second half comeback.
STAR GAZING: Sophomore attackman Kevin Rice, he had two goals and an assist while scampering in and around the Villanova defense in SU’s limited offensive possessions.
WHAT’S NEXT: A home date Friday night for a non-league match-up against Canisius. The last time the two teams met was the opening round of the 2008 NCAA Tournament in the Dome, the ‘Cuse routing the Golden Griffins 20-3, the first win on route to the school’s 10th NCAA title. Time 7:00 pm (ET) – TV: TWCS (Upstate New York)
