REPORT: Bernie Fine hired by Israeli basketball team

Former Syracuse associate head coach Bernie Fine has been hired as a consultant for the Maccabi Bazan Haifi of the Israeli Basketball Super League, ESPN’s Marc Stein reported.

The job will not require Fine to move overseas because he’s being consulted on player and coaching decisions, according to the report.

Fine was fired in November after 36 years at Syracuse following allegations of sexual abuse. While four accusers came forward, two have since recanted.

No criminal charges have been filed against him. Previously, a statement issued by Fine called the allegations of the first two accusers “patently false.”
