Real competition an acquired taste for Syracuse

I wanted to see Syracuse play against better competition. I wanted to see how they would respond. Through the first four games, the Orange had an average margin of victory of 32.5 points. You don’t learn much about a team from wins like that against opponents like Colgate and Fordham. Virginia Tech was going to be a real test. And through the first half Syracuse did not respond well. But luckily they played the 2nd half and the Orange responded to pull out the 69-58 victory.

Why Syracuse won’t make the Final Four

When it comes to this season, you can call me Lord Buzz Killington, the Duke of Negativity. I don’t want to ruin everyone’s fun, and I’m not one of the forever negative commenters you see on the Syracuse message boards. Preseason expectations are great. But we shouldn’t get overly excited about this season. Syracuse has glaring weaknesses that could kill the dreams of a Big East title, not to mention Final Four aspirations.

2011-12 Syracuse basketball preview

There are tremendous expectations on the 2011-12 Syracuse basketball team. Syracuse returns most of its core from last year’s team, and will begin the season ranked No. 5. They’re also expected to win a share of the Big East, according to the preseason coach’s poll.
