The Dag Bag – What does Wake Forest win mean for SU?

Give credit to the players. They’re the ones that pulled off the comeback. But, everything about this team reflects back on Doug Marrone. You felt he had things going in the right direction when he got the team to 4-8 after his first year. You felt the program was making strides after an 8-5 season last year, complete with a bowl victory over Kansas State. After one game in 2011, Marrone has instilled a “never say die” attitude in this team and it manifested itself Thursday night. That bodes well going forward this season and beyond.

2011 Football preview – Week 8, Louisville

2010 marked a return to relevance for the Louisville Cardinals after three straight disappointing seasons. The departure of Steve Kragthorpe and the arrival of Charlie Strong helped the Cardinals to a 7-6 record and a 31-28 win over Southern Miss in the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl.

2011 Football preview – Week 2, Rhode Island

Rhode Island has reason to be optimistic heading into the 2011 season. Despite finishing 5-6 (4-4 CAA) last season, the Rams return a veteran group of players on offense, including a solid offensive line, and weapons across the running back and wide receiver position. Although the defense has been decimated by graduation, Rams head coach Joe Trainer has a talented group of players ready to contribute.

2011 Syracuse football preview – Offense

The Orange return eight starters from a unit that was prolific at times, and down right anemic at others. SU’s offense averaged 37.5 points in its opening four games, but during its final three games of the regular season, the Orange could muster only a woeful 8.6 points.

Start spreading the news – Syracuse football is back. Yes, indeed, the neon lights are shining brightly on Broadway after the Orange, New York State’s college team, defeated the Kansas State Wildcats, 36-34 in the inaugural New Era Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium on Dec. 30.
