Syracuse’s new athletic director Mark Coyle has a lot on his plate as he settles into the 315. He’s sure to evaluate each of the programs, coaches, facilities and his department’s staff.
The early guess here is that unless the football team becomes completely unglued, Coyle will find a way to distribute the financial resources necessary for Shafer to build his recruiting base.
Mark Coyle will be the next Director of Athletics at Syracuse University, the school announced Friday evening. Coyle comes over from Boise State, where he had been the athletic director since 2011.
A huge senior class, including Rice, Staats and Galasso, has departed. Two starting attackmen and the entire first-line midfield are gone; that’s roughly 60 percent of the team’s scoring in 2015.
Heck, with a crowd of 24,215 for Monday’s Div. I championship game, that’s only roughly 14,000 more than showed up to watch the quarterfinals at Navy’s Marine-Corps Memorial Stadium.
