Syracuse is a 38.5 point underdog when it travels south to play No. 2 Florida State on Saturday. Here is a scouting report for the game:
QB UNDER INVESTIGATION: On Wednesday, reports surfaced that Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston was under investigation in connection with a sexual assault reported in 2012. Florida State and Winston’s attorney confirmed that an investigation was taking place. Winston is among a crowded group of college football players vying for the Heisman Trophy, throwing for 2,661 yards and 26 touchdowns, leading Florida State to a 9-0 record and a No. 2 ranking in the BCS standings. “We are aware of a matter that was investigated by the Tallahassee Police Department almost a year ago,” FSU said in a statement. “Because the investigation has not been closed by TPD, we cannot comment further at this time. We look forward to a speedy resolution of the issue.”

SCOUTING THE SEMINOLES: Winston’s favorite target is junior WR Rashad Greene. Greene has collected 50 catches for 820 yards and eight touchdowns, and will certainly be playing at the next level in the very near future. FSU running back Devonta Freeman and Syracuse safety Durell Eskridge continue to share a strong bond to this day. The two were teammates at Miami Central High School and Eskridge lived with Freeman for a period of time. Freeman has rushed for 650 yards and 9 touchdowns this season.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING: Syracuse and Florida State will play with the seventh time. Florida State holds a 5-1 record, including a 38-14 win in the 2005 season behind three touchdown passes from freshman quarterback Drew Weatherford the last time these two teams met.
GAME INFORMATION: Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Fla. TV: ABC/ESPN2.
