Syracuse will need to replace Jackson’s production

While Syracuse may be returning most of its core players this season, the one exception is Rick Jackson. The forward was named Big East Defensive Player of the Year, averaging 13.1 points and 10.3 rebounds, and was SU’s most consistent player throughout the year. Although the Orange has plenty of talent across the board, Jackson’s role may be a difficult one to fill.

Syracuse football midseason report card – Offense

The season is halfway over, and the Orange is 4-2. On the plus side, the Orange is two wins away from becoming bowl eligible for a second straight year. The bad news is that SU suffered an incredibly sloppy loss at the hands of Rutgers, and the “Cardiac Cuse” could easily be 0-6 right now with all the close games they’ve played. Midway through the 2011 season, let’s take a look at how the SU offense has been so far.

Around the Big East: Week 7

Cincinnati and Rutgers picked up their fifth wins of the season, while South Florida lost their second-straight Big East game on the road. Connecticut picked itself out of the cellar of the conference, as Louisville took their place. Pittsburgh lost in non-conference play, their fourth loss in the last five games.

Orange Watch Friday: Familiar Final Four Trip on the Horizon?

It may be the newly-named Mercedes-Benz Superdome where the SU football team won its fourth game of the season as the clock struck zero last Saturday night against Tulane, but to most ‘Cuse fans it will always be the Louisiana Superdome, or simply the Superdome, a venue that’s second to none when it comes to naming the site that has hosted the most number of meaningful SU football and basketball games played outside the city of Syracuse.
